Last week I spoke at The Place I Call Research, a conference exploring various cross-disciplinary ideas of space and place, both offline and online. I spoke about my PhD work into hyperlocal media audiences on Facebook Pages, and specifically how they must be understood as being situated within a much wider media and information ecology in localities. It’s always helpful to explore some of these ideas in public, as I prepare to put them into more writing.
Whilst this was a somewhat boutique conference, it was good to be placed with speakers that I shared interests with, even via slightly unusual tangents – crochet craftivism and eye-tracking technology. You can find the full program and abstracts here.
